State designated Class I, II, and III routes are shown on IDOT's "Designated State Truck Route System" map. Height and weight limitations on Local Roads and Streets are listed on IDOT's "Overheight and Overweight Permit Routes" map, Tables I and III. You can request a copy of both maps by calling IDOT at 217-782-6271.
The following are the height and weight limitations on Local Roads and Streets. Any vehicle exceeding these amounts requires a permit from the Will County Dept of Highways. Permits may be issued for an overheight and overweight load providing it consists of one object that cannot be reasonably dismantled or disassembled.

Resolution 02-289 of 20 June 2002 (attached) is our current ordinance, which adopted Article 15 of the Illinois Vehicle Code (625 ILCS), including the IDOT fee schedule at http://www.dot.state.il.us/road/infoforms.html, with the following exceptions:
1. WCDH permit form is used for all permit applications (WILL-102, Rev 7/03)
2. Permit application and permit issue by fax or in person only
3. Billing and payment are made every 30 days
4. Oversize permits for limited continuous operation are limited to three months
5. Overweight permits for limited continuous operation are prohibited
6. Overweight permits for containerized grain are issued as follows:
· Max weight 88,000 lbs. gross on 5-axles
· 1-day roundtrip only (versus standard 5-day single trip or 10-day roundtrip)
· 1 permit per container
· $20.00 per permit
· Permits issued in advance with plastic seals to be attached to the rear of each container. Each plastic seal contains a unique permit serial number matching the permit number on paper carried in the truck.
· Permits are ordered in advance and purchased upon receipt at the Highway Department.
· Each permit requires carrier to fill in truck license number, container number, and effective/expiration dates.
ADDITIONAL FEES WCDH will charge the following fees to conform with IDOT procedures:

› Service charge for special handling when requested by applicant.
› Fees for special transmission when requested by applicant.
› Fees for overweight-axle loads.
› Fees for overweight trucks hauling sweet corn - during harvest season $10/40 days.
› Fees for moving oversize or overweight equipment to the site of rail derailments - $500/year.
› Fees for special permits for tow-trucks - $500/quarter or $2,000/year.
› Fees for moves directly across a highway - $15/6 months.
› Fees for buildings and special moves - single trip only.
› Fees for engineering inspections or field investigations - $40/hour.
› Fees for police escort - $40/hour/vehicle for pre-estimated time (min.$80/vehicle).
› Supplemental permit fee - $5/supplement.
