Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant issued a proclamation today recognizing June 19 as Juneteenth Day of Observance in Will County.

Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant invites Will County pet-owners to attend a low-cost pet vaccine clinic being hosted by Will County Animal Control and the Joliet-based non-profit SNIP Society. The clinic will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2023 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m at the Will County Animal Control offices located at 22452 Cherry Hill Road, Joliet, IL 60433.

The Will County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) has launched a new-and-improved version of the “Ready Will County” smartphone application. The app is an innovative tool to help residents receive timely alerts and to be able to effectively plan ahead for a wide range of scenarios.

Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino Tarrant and ShareFest Will County will be hosting a free food giveaway event on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at the Will County Office Building located at 302 N. Chicago Street, Joliet, IL 60432. The event will commence at 9 a.m. until noon, or while supplies last.

Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant and Will County Board leadership have announced the awarded allocation of $43 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) dollars to 120 local governments, community organizations, and small businesses throughout the county. This announcement follows Will County Board approval of allocations at its May 18, 2023 Board Meeting. 

The Will County Land Use Department’s Resource Recovery and Energy (RRE) Division will host its annual three-day book reuse and recycling event from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., June 2-4, at Joliet Park District’s Pilcher Park Nature Center, 2501 Highland Park Drive.

Anna Payton has been appointed as the Administrator of the Will County Animal Control Department by Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant. Payton’s appointment was confirmed by the Will County Board at their April meeting.

A “Fresh Produce Pop-Up Event” will be hosted in Joliet from 1-3 p.m. on Thursday, May 11 at Community Lifeline Ministries, 158 S. Joliet St., Joliet, IL 60436. Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant is partnering with the Community Nutrition Network and Senior Services Association, Meals on Wheels Foundation of Northern Illinois, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois, and Community Lifeline Ministries to host the event.

Will County will hold its annual week-long textile and small home goods collection May 8-12 at the County Office Building, 302 North Chicago St. Items will be accepted in the building parking lot between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. daily, with extended drop-off hours from 5:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 12.

15 volunteers with the Will County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) received President’s Volunteer Service Awards from AmeriCorps and the non-profit Points of Light in recognition of the extensive time dedicated to the agency and public safety. The volunteers received their awards at the April meeting of the Will County Board on April 20, 2023.
