Hasbrouck earns professional certification

JOLIET -- Kim Hasbrouck of Joliet has earned the Professional in Human Resources designation, the world’s highest standard in the field for more than 40 years.

Hasbrouck, Human Resources Administrator, completed a 12-week course and then took the PHR exam administered by the Human Resources Certification Institute. She was able to demonstrate her mastery of the technical and operational aspects of HR practices as well as U.S. Laws and regulations.

Human Resources professionals in more than 100 countries are HRCI certified.

Not only did Hasbrouck pass the exam on her first try, but her performance compared to other passing candidates was higher than those who met the minimum passing standard, said Bruce Tidwell, Director of the Will County Human Resources Department.  Only 53 percent of testing candidates actually pass their exam on their first attempt.

    “More than most professions, HR is impacted every day by changes in the law, changes that happen at an almost unmanageable pace. These developments can have costly legal ramifications for employers that don’t stay current with how these changes can negatively impact budgets -- costs that can be avoided with the knowledge emanating from a professional and informed HR department.”

Hasbrouck joins Tidwell, Regina Malone and Keri Bartlett as the fourth person in the department to have the PHR or higher designation.

   “I am proud that now 50 percent of my staff are currently certified practitioners in the Human Resources profession with designations such as PHR, Human Resources Certification Institute-Senior Professional in Human Resources and the Society for Human Resources Management-Senior Certified Professional.”
