Will County Hosting Two “Solar Power Hour” Events for Homeowners and Small Businesses

County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant invites residents to attend two free virtual and in-person “Solar Power Hour” to learn about the benefits of using solar energy and how to participate in a group buy to reduce costs.

The “Solar Power Hour” educational events are part of Grow Solar Chicagoland, previously known as Solarize Chicagoland, which offers free hour-long sessions to educate homeowners and small businesses on how to save money by using solar energy and participating in a group buy.

The virtual event will be on Tuesday, August 16 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. The in-person event will be on Wednesday, August 31 from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the Peotone Village Hall (208 E Main St, Peotone, IL 60468).

“This is an excellent opportunity for homeowners and small businesses to learn about the benefits of solar power,” said Bertino-Tarrant. “This program helps residents save money through both reduced energy costs and a group buy program offered for solar assets.”

Property owners will learn more about the basics of solar energy, its financial benefits, and how the solar group buy program can lower the costs of installing a system at home. Participants have an opportunity to sign up for a free, no-obligation site assessment/cost estimate.

This initiative is co-hosted by the Resource Recovery and Energy Division of the Will County Land Use Department, the Midwest Renewable Energy Association, and the Citizens Utility Board.

Further information, including virtual event registration, can be found at: www.growsolar.org/chicagoland.
