Management Information Services Division
Serving County Information Systems Needs
Will County's Management Information Services Division is responsible for the development and maintenance of software application systems. and the design and installation of certain Local Area Networks (LANs).
In-House Applications
- Real Estate System - MIS is responsible for this COBOL/CICS system. The real estate system consists of over 700 programs written by county employees that take the county treasurer, county clerk, township assessors, supervisor of assessments and the board of review through the annual real estate cycle. The system changes assessments and publishes the assessments changes. It prints the board of review decision changes, and abstract reports. It calculates equalized value, tax rates, and tax amounts. This system prints over 250,000 real estate tax bills, processes tax payments and distributes over $1 Billion in taxes to the taxing districts. It handles delinquent tax payments, including the annual tax sale. The system also processes mobile home tax payments and provides real estate data to mortgage and title companies.
- Miscellaneous Systems - MIS also maintains in-house systems such as marriage license, sheriff's warrants system, and various receipt systems.
- Supported Applications Financial System - The New World financial system includes general ledger, budgeting, procurement, accounts payable, revenue accounting, human resources and fixed assets. MIS is responsible for upgrading, security, connectivity to users.
Networks and Support Division
Local Area Networks - Department Connectivity
A variety of networks connect County departments. These departments include: County Clerk, Circuit Clerk, Courts, GIS, Land Use, Recorder of Deeds, Treasurer and other administrative offices throughout Will County. Each department manages their own respective network with the Support division serving as either a place to house the network or give support in certain situations.
Support monitors and troubleshoots mid-range and mainframe resources. The Support division upgrades and enhances the Wide Area Network (WAN), and provides E-mail, Internet, Intranet and training services for County departments.
The Support division also monitors and troubleshoots the county-wide data communication network. This includes full period data lines, as well as wireless connections.
