Purpose: University of Illinois Extension is the flagship outreach effort of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, offering educational programs to residents of all of Illinois’ 102 counties. Through learning partnerships that put knowledge to work, U of I Extension’s programs are aimed at making life better, healthier, safer and more profitable for individuals and their communities. University of Illinois Extension serving Grundy, Kankakee and Will counties provides resources and programming to the community. The four program areas are:Family Life, Local Food Systems and Small Farms, Nutrition and Wellness and Youth Development.

Composition: (505 ILCS 45/7) (from Ch. 5, par. 247) (a) A county extension board shall be established in each county upon the request ofthe director of extension of the University of Illinois to facilitate effective cooperation between the extension councils and the county governing board. Thecounty extension board shall consist of two men and two women who are members of the county extension councils appointed by the director of extension and three members appointed by the presiding officer of the board, with the advice and consent of the county board, who may be members of the county governing board.
