JOLIET – For the first time since 2015, Will County will host Recyclepalooza in April, providing an opportunity for spring cleaners to get rid of items in an environmentally responsible way.
The event will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 13.
With the help of Sharefest volunteers and vendors, Will County will be accepting electronics, household hazardous waste, scrap metal, wood, and foam plastic such as egg cartons, packaging blocks and clean Styrofoam cups.
Donations of clothing, books, small home furnishings, knick knacks, donations for the Troops, and worn American flags for ceremonial destruction will also be accepted at the event.
For a complete list of what will be accepted, go to willcountygreen.com.
Marta Keane, Recycling Specialist with the Will County Land Use Department’s Resource Recovery and Energy Division, reminds residents to make appointments before attending Recyclepalooza.
“In order to keep the lines moving, prevent backups on public streets and ensure fast service to participants, Will County implemented an appointment system for all electronic and household hazardous waste collection events held on Saturdays,” she said. “Residents report great satisfaction with the change.”
