Will County EMA Reminds Residents of Safety Tips During Heat Advisory

The Will County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) is advising residents to take precautions during an ongoing extreme heat period for the region.

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. on August 26 and an Excessive Heat Watch from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. on August 27. The heat index is expected to reach as high as 116 degrees during this period. In these conditions, heat stroke, heat cramps or heat exhaustion are possible with prolonged exposure and/or physical activity.

Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant joined Pace Suburban Bus (Pace) leadership and local officials to celebrate the expansion of dial-a-ride services into southwest Will County. Seniors and people with disabilities in six new townships can now register for the Access Will County Dial-a-Ride service for their transportation needs.

Teena Mackey to lead day-to-day operations following three-decade career in management

The Will County Community Mental Health Board (708 Board) has hired Tenna Mackey as its first Executive Director. Mackey will lead the day-to-day operations of the board, which is tasked with evaluating and improving community mental health services in Will County, including the treatment of mental illness, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and substance use.

Volunteers needed for food giveaway event focused on post-storm relief

Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant and City of Joliet Mayor Terry D’Arcy are partnering with ShareFest Will County to host a Free Food Giveaway event from 9 a.m. until noon to support residents impacted by last week’s storms. The drive-up event will be held at the Will County Office Building located at 302 N. Chicago Street, Joliet, IL 60432.
