Regina Malone Confirmed as Will County Director of Human Resources

County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant has appointed Regina Malone as Director of the Will County Human Resources Department. She brings over 27 years of human resources expertise to the role, including 23 years of experience as Assistant Director of the department.

“I am excited and honored to have the opportunity to lead this great Human Resources team,” said Director Malone. “Working for the county almost my entire career, I have learned a lot from the previous directors that I had the pleasure to work for in addition to my involvement with professional Human Resources organizations. I will build upon the previous directors’ legacy for ensuring Will County is a great place to work for our current staff, and attractive to potential job seekers.”

Prior to joining the Human Resources Department in 2000, Malone served as the Human Resources Manager at Sunny Hill Nursing Home from 1995 until 2000. She also served as Interim Director of the Human Resources Department from December 2021 through April 2022. She served as a key leader in the consolidation of human resource functions into one department and has overseen several initiatives that modernized how the county manages its workforce.

“Regina has served as a foundational leader of county human resources and I look forward to her taking on this responsibility,” said County Executive Bertino-Tarrant. “She demonstrates a passion for her work and a care for the well-being of our entire workforce.”

Malone is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) from the HR Certification Institute and a Senior Certified Professional (SCP) from the Society for Human Resource Management. She is an active member of the National Public Employer Labor Relation Association (NPELRA), Illinois Public Employer Labor Relation Association (IPELRA), Grundy-Will Society for Human Resource Management Association (SHRM), and National Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).

Malone earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, with a concentration in Human Resources, and a Master of Public Administration degree from Governors State University.
