"Solar Switch" Group Buy Program Returns to Will County

Will County residents and small business owners are invited to learn about the benefits of solar energy and participate in a group buy program to reduce installation costs.

The Resource Recovery and Energy Division of the Will County Land Use Department is once again partnering with the Midwest Renewable Energy Association (MREA) and the Citizens Utility Board (CUB) to host Solar Switch (formerly Grow Solar) program events in Will County. The program offers homeowners and small businesses an opportunity to learn what solar energy can do for their energy costs and access to an affordable group buy program to purchase solar assets.

“I am thrilled to witness the remarkable growth of solar energy opportunities across our county,” said County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant. “Embracing renewable energy sources is not just a trend, it’s a crucial step towards building a sustainable future for our community.”

Free “Solar Power Hour” events will be held to inform residents on solar technology, its environmental benefits, and the federal and local incentives that make it more accessible. Attendees can also learn more about the group buy opportunity designed to lower energy costs.

“Through the Solar Switch program, we are excited to empower our residents with the means to access clean energy solutions that not only save them money, but also contribute to a healthier environment,” said Briana Moore, Energy & Conservation Specialist for Will County’s Land Use Department.

Two in-person Solar Power Hour events are currently scheduled in Will County:

  • Mon, Aug. 21 - 6:30 p.m. - 1501 W Boughton Rd, Bolingbrook, IL (St. Francis of Assisi)
  • Thu, Aug. 31 - 6:00 p.m. - 10 S 404 Knock Knolls Rd, Naperville, IL (McDonald Farm)

Residents can also view a pre-recorded Solar Power Hour online at any time by visiting https://solarswitch.com/en/willcounty/info/webinars.
