County Exec Letterhead - A. TuskeyFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Nov. 19, 2014

JOLIET – At today’s meeting, the Will County Board passed its 2015 budget. In a 13-13 split vote, County Executive Larry Walsh cast the vote to approve the $464 million budget.

“I am proud of the members of the Will County Board who chose to approve the 2015 budget," said County Executive Larry Walsh. “It is important that we continue to be fiscally responsible with our taxpayer dollars. It is also essential that we act today and plan proactively for our needs of tomorrow.

"The 2015 budget will ensure Will County government has the necessary revenue to address critical capital projects which are outlined in the five-year plan.  This capital plan is the first time we have clearly outlined expected revenue and also the specific projects we intend to complete over the next few years.  Now we can go to work to execute this multi-year plan."

The new fiscal year for Will County begins Dec. 1, 2014. The 2015 budget includes $32 million for the county’s road plan and $11 million to fund the county’s five year capital improvements plan.

“County government has an obligation to provide for the safety of our residents and maintain our county buildings,” Walsh said. “This budget will allow us to meet these obligations.”

The new budget goes into effect on Dec. 1, 2014.
