Will County to Host Three Spring Electronics and Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Events

Events in Peotone, Joliet, and Bolingbrook will also serve as rain barrel pick-up locations

To promote the proper disposal of household electronics and hazardous waste items, the Will County Land Use Department’s Resource Recovery and Energy Division is hosting three spring drop-off events throughout the county.

“We’re proud to host these events to ensure that unwanted materials do not end up in landfills,” said Joan O’Keefe, Will County Environmental Educator. “We welcome all residents to review what events are eligible for drop-off and set an appointment online.”

Each event is by appointment-only to ensure that all attendees receive service. A listing of the events can be found below:

  • Peotone - Saturday, April 2, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Joliet - Saturday, April 9, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Bolingbrook – Saturday, May 14, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

More details, including a full list of eligible drop-off items and event registration, can be found at www.willcountygreen.com. Residents can also find a listing of permanent electronic waste drop-off sites online.

In partnership with The Conservation Foundation, Will County is also promoting the use of rain barrels for water re-use. Each event will serve as a pick-up location for purchased rain barrels.

“Rain barrels help homeowners conserve rainwater for gardening and watering trees and shrubs,” said O’Keefe. “These events serve as an excellent opportunity for purchasing a pre-ordered rain barrel without additional delivery fees.”

Attendees can preorder a rain barrel online and specify which event they will be picked up at by visiting: http://www.upcycle-products.com/il-programs/wce/
