Workforce Center of Will County offers many opportunities through On the Job Training program

The COVID-19 crisis has dramatically impacted the workforce across the nation. Many people have lost their jobs and are looking for alternate career paths. Locally, the Workforce Services Division (WSD) of Will County, through its Employment and Employee Services, is offering paid On the Job Training in a variety of essential employment sectors.

If you or a loved one are struggling with stress related to the COVID-19 pandemic and need emotional support, text TALK to 552020 for English or HABLAR for Spanish. This service is free and available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. People seeking assistance will remain anonymous and will provide only their first name and zip code, which enables the service to link you to a counselor in your area who is knowledgeable about available local resources. Land line users can call (217) 545-5100 for assistance.

Will County Sheriff Mike Kelley is announcing changes to the daily operations of the Sheriff’s Office, Public Safety Building, 16911 W. Laraway Road in Joliet and to the Adult Detention Facility, 95 S. Chicago Street, and Video Visitation Building, 20 S. Chicago Street in Joliet.

Will County, City of Joliet and the Continuum of Care (CoC) join the United Way of Will County to assist the homeless during the COVID-19 crisis

On Monday, the Continuum of Care, a network of agencies and service providers working to end homelessness, released the Emergency Housing Assistance Plan to provide safe shelter for the homeless and those at risk of losing shelter.

Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant announced today that 3,687 completed applications, totaling $40,531,273 in rental assistance, have been received through the Illinois Rental Payment Program (ILRPP) to help residents and landlords who have been financially affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
