On Tuesday, October 13, local officials from Will County, the City of Joliet, the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA), Metra, and Pace gathered to honor the late Will County Executive Larry Walsh. Walsh was instrumental in expanding mass transit services across Will County and was a champion improving mass transit options for the senior and disabled populations in the county.

Representatives from the U.S. Census will be in front of the Will County Office Building from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 2 and Monday, Oct. 5 for anyone who has not completed the 2020 Census. Due to the COVID-19 crisis, the deadline for completing the census has been extended to Oct. 31.

Across the State of Illinois, the IDPH (Illinois Department of Public Health) is reporting a recovery rate of 96 percent for individuals contracting COVID-19, even with the state also reporting a record number of tests being performed and more positive cases. Meanwhile, Will County is also seeing a higher compliance among residents for wearing masks and social distancing.

Since 2012, the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals (NAWDP) has chosen September to raise awareness about the importance of workforce development to the national economy.
