Two group homes operated by Cornerstone Services, Inc.in Joliet have been selected for renovations by the Will County Community Development Division, the lead entity for the County’s HOME Consortium, and the City of Joliet, a member of this HOME Consortium. For residents who have lost employment due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there are many job search services available in the Resource Room of the Workforce Center of Will County, located at 2400 Glenwood Avenue in Joliet.
“The Resource Room is an excellent place for our residents to find assistance in their job searches,” said Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant. “Many Will County employers use the Workforce Center to find qualified employees.”

The impact of the pandemic on social determinants of health, such as employment, income levels, and housing and food security has led to a growing concern regarding the long-term impact on mental health. These factors are also leading to new barriers for people already suffering from mental illness and substance use disorders. During the pandemic, four in 10 adults in the U.S. reported symptoms of anxiety or depression.
