Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant Will County Executive

I am honored to serve as your Will County Executive. As a lifelong resident of this great county, I have witnessed many changes as we have evolved from an ag-community to a major hub in the global distribution market.  I am dedicated to building upon this status but I am equally dedicated to maintaining the quality of life for the nearly 700,000 residents and thousands of businesses and organizations that call Will County home.

Please explore our website which is filled with important information about services and departments within the County Executive office as well as connections to other county officials’ websites.

Will County is diverse, vibrant, and filled with hard-working people. We have room to grow and we look forward to a great future.

Deadline for annual America Recycles Day contest Nov. 15

JOLIET – Nov.15 is America Recycles Day, and Will County wants to thank residents and non-profits for all they do to improve the environment by offering them a chance to win refurbished iPad2’s.

“Every day our residents choose to recycle, to be more energy efficient and to conserve water,” said Marta Keane, the Will County Land Use Department’s Recycling Program Specialist. Keane is in the Resource Recovery and Energy Division of the Land Use Department “This contest gives us the opportunity to reward a lucky person and up to three non-profit organizations each with a useful electronic device.”

Keane said, “Simply take a digital photo of yourself, a friend or family member doing something green, such as donating items, recycling, changing a light bulb or composting. Send the photo to us at info@willcountygreen.com by midnight on Sunday, Nov. 15.  We’ll announce a winner by the end of the month.”

Will County is offering a refurbished iPad2 purchased through Vintage Tech, the county’s electronics recycler. The device comes with a one-year warranty and is capable of downloading hundreds of apps.

A device is also available to non-profit groups that complete an application demonstrating their many “green” practices and explaining how it could enhance their efforts.  In 2014, the first year non-profits were included in the contest, the Plainfield United Methodist Church Green Team, William Young School in Homer Glenn and the Joliet YMCA each claimed a prize.

The Will County Land Use Department is led by Director Curt Paddock and is under the office of Will County Executive Larry Walsh.
