Will County offers unique one-stop center for employment needs

Workforce Center of Will County features several workforce partners under one roof

The Workforce Center of Will County (WCWC) offers a wide variety of free, personal services to assist both residents and employers with employment needs. These services are available from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday in the center’s Resource Room.

Additionally, residents can access information about unemployment benefits from the Illinois Department of Employment Security, additional career or coursework from Joliet Junior College, rehabilitative services from Division of Human Services, or special benefits from the Veterans’ Assistance Commission at this location.

“The goal of this Workforce Center is to assemble services relating to employment and other assistance in one location,” said Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant. “Our residents can complete several steps in their career search and access important skills training and information about benefits at this center.”

Career training services include classes on resume writing, practicing interview skills, and updating computer proficiency. The center also provides information about career scholarships and on the job training.

“Our Resource Room is filled with state-of-the-art computers and copy/fax machines to help connect our residents with local employers,” said Michelle Stiff, director of the WCWC. “We also have certified staff on site who can help our customers update their resume, participate in a mock interview, and learn new computer skills. There are many good career opportunities in our county, and we want to help prepare our customers for these careers.”

The center offers On the Job Training at 10:00 a.m. on Mondays in October, except Oct. 11 in observance of Columbus Day, to offer job seekers new skills training for a wide range of high demand industries such as manufacturing, bookkeeping, IT Help Desk Analyst, and more. These sessions are offered virtually or in-person. Will County residents should contact Cleopatra Cook at Cleopatra.Cook@eesforjobs.com for more information or to register.

From 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., each Wednesday, job seekers can pick up a “Job Fair in a Bag” filled with job listings with Will County employers and resources for a job search including sample resumes, interviewing tips and more.

For job seekers who want in person training, a variety of services are available in the Resource Room including these special workshops:
