Workforce Center of Will County to host Career Fair for Individuals with Disabilities

The Workforce Center of Will County is partnering with the Joliet Region Chamber of Commerce and Joliet Township High School to host a Career Fair for Individuals with Disabilities from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 2nd at the Joliet Township High School Administration Building, 300 Caterpillar Drive in Joliet. Representatives from several local businesses resource organizations will be participating.

“I am proud of our workforce partners who are joining together to host this career fair,” said Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant. “This event will connect a pool of uniquely qualified employees with a variety of employers from throughout the area.”

Representatives from Harrah’s Joliet, Michaels Distribution, PACE Suburban Bus, TAGG Logistics, Will County Center for Community Concerns, and the Will County Clerk’s office will be present to talk to people about current job openings. The Autism Workforce, Cornerstone Services, Inc., Disability Resource Center, and the Illinois Department of Human Services/Division of Rehabilitation Services will also have representatives attending to share information about their respective agency’s services.

“There are many career opportunities for people who have disabilities,” said Michelle Stiff, Director of the Workforce Center of Will County. “This event will enable people to meet with employers to learn about job openings, local resource organizations, and available services.”

In 2020, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that nearly 18 percent of all disabled persons were employed. The disabled workforce is made up of people with diverse backgrounds and skills who can make valuable contributions to the workplace.
